About Us

Castele Consultancy was established by Caroline and Stephen Smith in January 2008.   After a lot of thought, soul searching and conversations with friends and family, the name has been devised from the first names of Caroline, Steve and their son Lewis.

Caroline Smith

Expertise

Caroline is an experienced sports development professional with expertise of working at grassroots level through to working with professional sports performers.  

Caroline’s expertise include strategic business planning, project management, volunteering, equality, training and leadership, funding and developing commercial contracts.  Caroline relishes new challenges, which require drive, enthusiasm, commitment and expertise.   She is highly respected by colleagues and partners.      

Experience

Caroline has worked in the private sector, local government and for the last five years for UK Athletics both within the education department and more recently the business development department leading on special project including the development of athlete contracts, the equality standard and commercial contracts.       Caroline currently tutors for UK Athletics and sportscoach UK.

Bsc (Hons) in Physical Education and Sports Science from Loughborough University.

Personal

Caroline has been married to Steve for 5 years and gave birth to their first child, Lewis in March 2007.   Caroline enjoys running and has competed in a number of half marathons.   She is a member of the Washland Women’s running club.   She is also a keen skier and cyclist.

Expertise

Steve has worked within the public and private sectors from the private health sector, Local Authorities, the Rugby Football Union and within the Education Sector.   Steve's expertise includes; project management, event management, strategic management, fundraising from public and private funders,   strategic planning / consultation and leadership development.   Steve is currently working in the Education Sector and also carrying out some peer mentoring for the Youth Sport Trust and as a Regional Subject Advisor (PE) for AfPE.

Experience

Steve has been employed in the Sports and Leisure Industry since leaving university, making an impact in a wide variety of organisations.   Steve has experience of working in small rural Local Authorities, Inner Cities, within Education and National Governing Bodies of Sport.

BSc (Hons) in Physical Education, Sports Science and Recreation Management from Loughborough University. 

Personal

Steve has a passion for all sports, having played rugby and cricket for most of his life.  Steve has been fortunate to organise and lead sports tours to Australia, France, Italy and Spain.  Steve now enjoys mountain biking and still coaches rugby, cricket and basketball. 

Steve is married to Caroline and they have one child.
